Detailed description of Cheraw State Park Golf Course
Cheraw State Park Golf Course, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Cheraw, South Carolina.
Cheraw State Park Golf Course is one of just 40 golf courses the country to earn Golf Digest's honor as a "Super Value." This Tom Jackson design is set around Lake Juniper.
The course plays to 6928 yards and a 130 slope from the championship tees. The layout is dense with pines and features wide expanses of grass and sand bunkers.
The signature hole at Cheraw State Park Golf Course is the demanding, dog leg left, par 4, 13th hole. Longer hitters can cut the dog leg with a risk reward tee shot. Average players should aim right center. This will leave a long second shot that plays over water into a well-guarded green with sand on the right and water on the left.

Played here 2-3-10, while on a golf vacation from the frozen north to Pinehurst, we found the Sandhills area snowed in, so we had to drive 50 miles south to find an open course. Cheraw was recommended to us, and we were happy it was.
This is a wonderful golf course by any measure, even in 40 degree weather with no greenery in sight. Layout is exceptional, and takes full advantage of terrain variations. Course is in a state park and is well-maintained, with no houses visible anywhere, and that's a very good thing.
NOT walkable, due to significant distances from green to tee.
Staff was very welcoming and professional. Conditions were about typical for February. Tee boxes were in decent shape, fairways were browned out, but pretty firm, despite recent rains. Bunkers were very firm, and almost unplayable. Greens were OK, but bumpy and some were patchy: not many one-putts outside three feet.
Overall, I thought this to be a very nice course, and one I would recommend.
